Oscar’s Pub & Grill: Straight Burgerlicious!

What to eat? Where to go? What to do? We had no idea what to expect while visiting Milwaukee. What we came to learn is that Milwaukee is all about breweries, burgers and pubs! When debating where to have our last meal before returning to Chicago, our friend suggested that we try Oscar’s Pub & Grill. It’s one of his favorite burger joints in the city. So we figured with his suggestion and the stellar reviews on Yelp, why not pay Oscars a visit.
As we walked in we were immediately hit with the home bar vibe. It was extremely clean, well lit and the staff was very friendly. We got there early in the day and were seated immediately. Just reading the menu we all began to SALIVATE.
What we ordered:
Big Gringo - a delicious burger in its own right. The patty was cooked perfectly to my specifications. The burger itself was delicious. When you add in the cheese and bacon it turns into a pretty good, well-rounded, burger. Everything included in the burger complemented each other really well! You definitely can’t go wrong with fries with your burger, but the garlic parmesan fries are extremely delicious and are a must have. They were cooked to perfection, with a nice crisp and tenderness to them. I love the fact that they don’t give you mounds of fries that distract you from the burger. It’s just enough to compliment your burger nicely.

Big “O” - this is a definite superstar of the menu. With two different types of cheese, onions, chorizo and jalapeños. They sautéed their jalapeños before putting them on the burger and that brings so much additional flavor out of the peppers. This was my favorite out of the two burgers. So much flavor and levels of complexity combined in the simplicity of a burger. You definitely need to add their house made guacamole to the burger. It adds yet another additional level of flavor and enjoyment. The sweet potato fries were cooked nicely and completed with cinnamon. They are an extra buck, but a very nice addition to to any burger on the menu.

Bloody Mary - one of the better Bloody Mary’s that I’ve had. It had a wonderful amount of heat to the drink. It was served with celery, olive, cheese, lemon, lime, pickle and BACON! Yes, if you could make an alcoholic beverage any better you obviously would put a thick slice of bacon in it! You also get to choose from any draft beer they have for your beer back!
I love the vibe you get here at Oscars. They have a few quality TVs scattered around the restaurant for game day! The staff is super friendly and nice. Overall it was an excellent meal!
